New Dress!

Check out this cute girl in her new dress! Thanks to Reese, I revived my sewing machine after about 4 years in the closet and finished this yesterday. I also cut apart an old skirt of mine that never quite fit and put it back together and now feel like I have a new skirt! I'm now inspired to make Selah's cloth diapers as well. There are tons of patterns online and we have more than enough scrap fabric, plus it's low impact and super cheap.

I am so proud of my handiwork!

Selah apparently is very excited to be wearing this dress.

She SHOULD be excited - it's adorable!

Are cloth diapers still low impact when you take the water used to clean them into account? I've always heard it's a wash (no pun intended) between them and the paper ones. Not like it matters to me right now...

but eventually. :)

Love you and the wee one! Oh, and Mike too.

The dress is BEAUTIFUL!! I LOVE bright colored fabrics like that. I grew up with my mom making clothes for us (I always got a new homemade dress at Christmas) and I loved it! They were so special and unique! Keep it up!

Cloth diapers ARE still cheaper in the long run, especially if you hang them to dry which most of my friends do. I live here in Ontario, Canada and our water isn't that expensive so I don't know what it costs for you. I just know that it is going to save us TONS of money.

Ooh - that little dress is inspiring me to make some baby clothes of my own. Very nice!

And it's my understanding that cloth diapers are better for the environment, even if they do take a few additional wash loads each week, as water is a renewable resource, but disposable diapers will simply sit in landfills.

The dress is lovely - I especially like the flower buttons. Props to you for completing it without a pattern. The sky is really the limit when it comes to sewing cutie-patootie girl clothes...the internet is flooded with ideas/free patterns. Keep your sewing machine handy! :)
